In April 1992 Leo & Lydia de Puy started an unprecedented, yet fun adventure! Together they started a guesthouse with canoe and bike rental facilities. With hospitality at the heart, they saw Lely as the perfect location from where guests could explore the natural beauty of the local area. Almost 25 years later, Lely remains the place from where to begin your adventure.
The name ‘Lely’ derives from the names of the owners, LEo and LYdia. Due to the many water activities they decided to use the water lilly as a symbol, giving the name a double meaning.
As the business grew, the guesthouse transformed into Hotel-Restaurant Lely, which unfortunately meant that the rental services ended. However, Lely continues to be a favourite stop for cyclists and other outdoor enthusiasts.
Through the years, the hustle and bustle of the restaurant increased enormously. Leo renovated the old bakery next-door into a new trendy and unique restaurant. We now have possibilities to organise weddings and/or other events. The team wouldn’t be complete without Lydia, of course, whose devotion and focus always help drive the business forwards. Through her years of experience in the kitchen, you really can’t distinguish her from a professional chef.
Let yourself be charmed by this wonderful, welcoming family company and feel at home immediately.
